Crowns are a structural “hat” for teeth that are severely broken down. The crown covers the entire tooth allowing it to withstand all normal biting activity. Dr. Riggs will only recommend a crown to restore a tooth when all other options have been exhausted.
A dental bridge is the time tested method for replacing 1-4 teeth in any location of the mouth. These permanently cemented pieces provide fantastic esthetics and function. They can, however, create some cleaning and maintenance challenges. The best replacement option would be discussed between you and Dr. Riggs.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT ANY DENTAL FILLING, CROWN, PROSTHETIC ETC…IS A WEARABLE ITEM. NOTHING IS PERMANENT NOR LASTS FOREVER. DR RIGGS WILL ATTEMPT TO MAINTAIN ANY RESTORATION FOR AS LONG AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE.
